Prevent Your Pipes from Freezing in Your House
Winter is the most dangerous season for pipes outside the house, but also for some indoor pipes. If you have dealt with a frozen pipe, you know that the damage can affect more than the installation itself, and the repairs are quite expensive.
Tips for preventing your pipes from freezing
Furnace service Denver contractors will tell you to check the pipes in unheated spaces (attic, cellar) and insulate each segment separately. If they are in good condition, you can protect them by covering them with mineral wool tubes. If you notice small cracks in the insulation system, apply polyurethane foam to seal the pipe.
Do not forget to drain the water from the pool, sprinklers or pool water supply lines. Also, turn off the hoses and empty the outdoor water system. Keep the valve open to empty the pipe and to protect it in case of freezing of the remaining water. Also disconnect the garden hose from the tap and store it safely indoors.
If you are going to be away from home for a few days, turn off the water supply and empty the cold water and hot water pipes, allowing all the water to drain. Thus, regardless of the temperature, you prevent the pipes from freezing and do not risk returning home start repairing the damage.
